Learn Inside & Outside of the Classroom

At Surry Community College, your education is more than what you learn in class. The options for getting involved are endless: find and join a club, become a member of the SGA, or by attending College sponsored events. Surry has several clubs and organizations that you can choose from, as well as honor societies, service learning, and leadership opportunities.

Opportunities Available for Students

No matter what your educational goals are, Surry Community College has plenty to offer outside of the classroom. Surry has many resources that give you the best chance to succeed.

Athletics

Surry Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Region X (North Carolina/South Carolina/Virginia). The Surry Knights athletic department focuses on the overall development of all student-athletes within the college environment. SCC strives to assist student-athletes in their quest to excel in academic achievement, personal development, and athletic competition.

Organizations & Clubs

By participating in clubs and organizations, you can develop personal, organizational, and civic leadership skills while creating lasting memories. Become a part of our community by joining one of our many campus groups.

Students interested in joining a club should contact Forrest Lineberry, Vice President of Student Services, at lineberryf@surry.edu or visit the Office of Campus Life located in the Student Services office.​​​​​​


Phi Theta Kappa (National Honor Society)

The National Honor Society provides the opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.


Scholars of Global Distinction

The Scholars of Global Distinction program allows students to gain global skills that will be marketable and rewarding as they enter the workforce or pursue further education.

Student Government Association

Promoting better student government, better academic achievement, student activities, to better student-faculty relations, to heighten standards of contact among students and remain a member in good standing of the North Carolina Comprehensive Community College Student Government Association.
