Career Services is committed to helping students and graduates successfully transition from college to the workforce. We help determine career possibilities, areas of study, setting professional goals, and attaining employment aligned with a program of study.

Available Services

Our Services include occupational exploration, professional development, and self assessment. Formal assessment tools, such as personality and interest inventories are available. Preparatory resources for employment opportunities, including workshops, a variety of events, and job search assistance are also provided. ​

  • Occupational Exploration: ​Researching Salaries, Job Outlooks, Educational Requirements, and Work Schedules.
  • Professional Development: Creating Resumes, Preparing for Interviews, Completing Applications, Networking, and Locating Jobs.
  • Self Assessment: ​Knowing yourself involves looking inward at your Interests, Aptitudes, Personality and Values.

Purpose Center

If you need help understanding your purpose, visit the Surry Community College Purpose Center, a place where any student can go to seek guidance to determine what their purpose, calling, or career path should be.

The Purpose Center is located in the A-Building on the Dobson campus.

Career Coach

Career Coach is a unique online tool that displays job and career opportunities in the Surry, Yadkin, and surrounding areas. It is a service Surry offers to students, prospective students, and the community.

Career Coach also provides career assessments and a resume builder for students entering the job market.
