COVID-19: Lifting Restrictions

The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Funds Scholarship provides support for eligible community college workforce continuing education students pursuing high-demand workforce training programs within qualifying workforce pathways leading to a State or industry-recognized credential.

Eligibility Requirements

The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) fund will pay the cost of the course fee(s) or up to $750, whichever is more. The funds can be used to pay for tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, childcare and other expenses related to completing the course.

Surry Community College has eligible courses and programs in the following areas:

  • Automotive
  • Construction
  • Criminal Justice
  • Electrical
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Fire and Rescue Services
  • Healthcare
  • Industrial/Manufacturing
  • Information Technology
  • Machining
  • Mechatronics
  • Transportation
  • Truck Driver
  • Welding
