Two workshops will be offered in March for those interested in local growing practices at Surry Community College's Pilot Center,612 East Main Street, Pilot Mountain.
Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Training will be held Friday, March 8 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This food safety course is intended to improve students' understanding of Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) to guide assessment of risks and implementation of practices to reduce risks on fresh produce farms.
Spring Garden and Soil Prep will be held Monday, March 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. The first gardening class of 2019 will focus on spring garden clean up, removal of cover crops from the fall, and soil preparation for the upcoming planting season. The beginning conversation on what to seed and plant in the months ahead.
