Surry Community College Offering New Fitness Course

Surry Community College is offering a new Fit and Well Challenge course beginning in September in Dobson and Pilot Mountain.
On an individual basis, students in Surry’s Fit and Well Challenge course will receive wellness strategies to help them reach personal fitness or nutrition goals, come away with knowledge of various exercises and movements that meet all fitness levels, learn new techniques for structuring workouts, and various timing mechanisms to maximize performance gains. In addition, participants will receive specific advice on basic nutrition and the importance of hydration, obtain strategies and resources for decreasing stress and improving sleep habits, and be held accountable with periodic check sheets and scorecards to measure progress and performance.
Three sections of this exciting new course will be offered. Students can meet on Mondays, Sept. 11 through Nov. 13 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Surry Community College, 630 S. Main St., Dobson; on Tuesdays, Sept. 12 through Nov. 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Pilot Center, 612 E. Main St., Pilot Mountain; or on Tuesdays, Sept. 12 through Nov. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Pilot Center, 612 E. Main St., Pilot Mountain.
