COVID-19: Spring 2023 Semester Guidelines

Spring Means Gardening at the Pilot Center


Please join us for this seven part series that takes you from garden prep to caring for your flourishing garden! You can take any or all 7 classes for just $71! Financial assistance is available.

3/15 Spring Into Your Garden: This first class will focus on garden clean up, removal of cover crops and prep for this year’s season. Soil study and amending will also be covered.

3/29 Garden Planning & Management: Managing and planning are key to a great spring and summer garden. In this second class, we will show the best way to choose and plant seeds that will produce a bounty of fresh vegetables all spring and summer.

4/12 Seedling Care & Pest Management: Care of your seedlings is essential. We will focus on fertilization and thinning of seedlings. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in a greenhouse and garden will also be introduced in this third class.

4/26 Ready, Set, Plant!: Whether you are using pots, raised beds, or an open garden area, this class will focus on where and when to plant. Layout and watering will also be covered.

5/10 Caring for your Growing Garden: In this class, students will learn trellising and staking to create an abundance of vegetables. We will focus on the best way to have a truly manageable garden with easy care tips.

5/24 Pruning is a Must!: The most important thing you can do is pruning. Here, we will work on various ways of pruning tomatoes and other vegetables to ensure the best possible look and flavor.

6/7 Final Garden Do’s and Don’ts: Final topics include pest prevention, watering issues and weather. We will focus on the care of your plants through the hot summer.
