SCC and Surry on the Go Introduce Knight Focus
Surry Community College has partnered with Surry on the Go to create Knight Focus, a new video series that shines a light on the people, programs and possibilities at Surry Community College.
SCC and Surry Early College student, Jozilynn Surratt, is the anchor for the inaugural segment of Knight Focus that features SCC's Truck Driver Training program and Purpose Center.
Surratt serves as the Student Government Association Secretary at SCC. She is dually enrolled at the Surry Early College High School and Surry Community College. She plans to get a two-year degree at Surry Community College and then transfer to a university to earn a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Musical Theater.
In the first segment, the Knight Focus features the SCC Truck Driver Training program and the SCC Purpose Center.
The Truck Driver Training program at the Yadkin Center prepares students to safely operate tractor-trailers. Students learn safe driving, responsibilities, and regulations through classes and highway practice. Graduates are qualified to take the North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License test and are employable by commercial trucking firms.
The goal of the Purpose Center is to help people identify their strengths, explore their interests, discover career opportunities, and ultimately take the next step toward success, both academically and personally. Rhett Brown is the Director of The Purpose Center, which is located in the A-building on the Dobson Campus. The Purpose Center is a resource for students, community members, and Surry Community College Alumni.
The Knight Focus will be released monthly and will be hosted by a variety of student anchors who will spotlight different Surry Community College programs and services.
