Charles “Brandon” Keener of Mount Airy won a $250 scholarship after attending the Business Technologies Open House at Surry Community College on March 5. The scholarship was provided by the Surry Community College Foundation, and the open house participants were entered into a random drawing as an incentive for attending the event.

Keener plans to work toward a degree in Paralegal Technology. He is excited about winning the scholarship saying he has never won anything before. Now, he is looking forward to beginning his educational journey at Surry Community College. 

The Business Technologies Division includes Business Administration, Accounting, Paralegal, Medical Office Administration, Office Administration, Management Information Systems, and Trucking Operations Management. Many of the courses are offered online.

SCC is offering several more open houses this spring: Engineering Technologies on April 11 in Dobson; Viticulture and Enology on April 13 in Dobson; College Transfer on April 16 at The Yadkin Center and on April 29 in Dobson; Computer and Electronics Engineering on April 23 in Dobson; and Engineering Technologies on May 2 at The Yadkin Center.
