Deidre Rogers was born and raised in Mount Airy and has continued to give back to her community.

After graduating from North Surry High School, she attended Surry Community College from 1980 to 1982. She stated, “It was absolutely amazing.” While at SCC, she earned an Associate in Applied Science in Office Machines and Business. Rogers said, “The staff and the friendships at SCC are treasures I will always hold dear.” During her time at Surry Community, Rogers was in Student Government Association (SGA) and Phi Beta Lambda. She even named her first dog, Shep, after her SGA advisor, Dr. Carlyle Shepherd, whom she respected and admired.

After Surry Community College, Rogers worked at Workmen’s Federal Savings Bank for three and a half years. In 1986, she received her real estate broker’s license. Rogers received her Auctioneers license in 1987. She went on to receive the Graduate of Realtors Institute at Chapel Hill in 1988. In 2011, she received the Certified Auctioneers Institute designation from Indiana University in Indianapolis, Ind.

Rogers is currently Vice-President of Brokerage at Rogers Realty & Auction Co. in Mount Airy. She also serves on the board of Surry Community College Board of Trustees where she was chair from 2011 to 2014. Rogers truly has “connections” locally as she is the great, great granddaughter of Eng Bunker of the Original Siamese Twins.

When discussing how proud she was to be a graduate of Surry Community College, she said, “We don’t realize what an asset the college is to the community. Surry Community College continues to open doors, create opportunities, and prepare the next generation of skilled workers and community leaders. What a blessing it is to our community.”

In 1994, one of her former instructors at SCC, Dr. Gary Tilley, asked her to serve on the board of the Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce. She was hesitant but accepted and served for four years. This was the beginning of her community involvement. Since then, Rogers received the 2013 Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award, was the keynote speaker for the 2026 Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting, as well as serving in local, state, and national positions.

Rogers’ husband, Mark, and son, Dustin, both earned degrees from Surry Community College, with her son going on to graduate from Appalachian State University. Her daughter, Deyton, graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“I am so blessed. I grew up in a place that I love, attended schools that I love, and I am part of a community of amazing people who I have so much respect for and am so lucky to work with,” Rogers shared.
