Eleven students recently graduated from Surry Community College’s Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, which follows the guidelines established by the N.C. Office of EMS.
The EMT graduation was held Nov. 1. Graduates are Ryan Hemric of Boonville; Breonna Marion of Dobson; Jackie Scott of East Bend; Landon Dowell and Fabian Sixtos of Hamptonville; Ryan Ball of Jonesville; Katelyn Gammons and MacKenzie Yoder of Mount Airy; Chelsea Broome Casey, Cole Hobson and Trent Williard of Yadkinville.
Jeremiah Underwood, Emergency Medical Science Program Director at Guilford Technical Community College, was the guest speaker.
The Emergency Medical Technician course establishes the basic knowledge needed to provide, under medical authority, pre-hospital emergency care and to pass the N.C. State and/or National Registry certification exam.
