Students will have an opportunity to explore World War II history in a new online class offered through Surry Community College taught by History Instructor Rick Shelton.
HIS 145 The Second World War covers the period of 1919 to 1945 and will highlight the following topics: The Treaty of Versailles, the rise of totalitarian regimes, the origins of war, and the major military campaigns in Europe and the Pacific and the aftermath.
Upon completion, students should be able to analyze significant political, military, socioeconomic and culture developments that influence the Second World War. The class will begin on Aug. 15 go through Dec. 13.
History Instructor Rick Shelton will teach HIS 145 The Second World War in a new online format in Fall 2019. The class begins Aug. 15; the deadline to register is Aug. 2.
The course is approved for transfer under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement as a pre-major/elective course for those students who make a “C ” in the class and plan to transfer to a four-year university. It is also on the approved list of inherently global courses for the Scholars of Global Distinction program.
