Surry Community College will be offering a Ceramics I class this fall on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 to 3:45 p.m. in the ceramics classroom located at E-123 on the Dobson campus. This is a blended personal enrichment and curriculum class, which means it can be taken for college credit if the student desires.
The class will be taught by Richard Montgomery, and provides an introduction to three-dimensional design principles using the medium of clay. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of forming surface design, glaze application, and firing. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a high level of technical competence in forming and glazing with a development of three-dimensional awareness.
