Armfield Scholarship Available to Students Attending Surry Community College

The Edward M. Armfield, Sr. Foundation has extended its reach to benefit students who are entering Surry Community College for Fall 2024. The deadline for scholarship application is February 29, 2024.

The Edward M. Armfield, Sr. Foundation annually awards scholarships to deserving students graduating from Mount Airy High School, Millennium Charter Academy, Elkin High School, Surry Central High School, North Surry High School, East Surry High School, Surry Early College, and Surry Online Magnet School who are pursuing college educations.

May 2024 graduates who plan to enter an accredited four-year educational institution or Surry Community College in the Fall of 2024 as a full-time student are eligible to apply. Scholarship awards vary, and are renewable, provided the student maintains a 3.0 GPA.

Forty-eight students were awarded scholarships by the Edward M. Armfield, Sr. Foundation in 2023. These scholarships, over a four-year period, contributed $913,000 to the educational pursuits of the scholars.

The Edward M. Armfield, Sr. Foundation has awarded $2.3 million in scholarships to deserving students graduating from the public high schools in Surry County since 2005. Scholarships range in value from $1,000 per year for Surry Community College attendees up to $12,500 per year for students attending higher-cost private colleges and universities. Scholarships are renewable for one additional year for Surry Community College students or students transferring from Surry Community College to a four-year institution, and for three additional years for students attending four-year schools immediately out of high school.
