Surry Community College will hold a Nursing Pinning Ceremony to honor and celebrate the achievements of their students on Thursday, May 11, at 6:00 p.m. A live stream of the ceremony will be available at this time.
The Associate Degree Nursing and LPN to ADN graduates will receive their pins and diplomas during the ceremony. These students will be eligible to sit for the national examination leading to licensure as a registered nurse. The rising second-year nursing students will also be honored for completion of the first year of nursing school, which will be signified by the placement of the first stripe on their nursing cap.
The passing of the lamp symbolizes the nurses' dedication to providing continuous nursing care to their patients. Just as Florence Nightingale passed her lamp on to the next shift of nurses, the ADN Graduates will be passing the lamp to the Freshman Class.
Nurse's Prayer: Dear Father, Give me the compassion for all those in my care. Please show me the way to ease the pain they bear. Help me lead them to You and Your healing hands each day. May hope and comfort be present in every word I say. Grant me the strength, grant me peace, and courage from above so each life I touch, Father, may know and feel Your love.
