Program Overview

This 4-month Phlebotomy Technician Certificate course provides theory and clinical experiences needed for the proper collection of blood and other specimens used for diagnostic testing.

Employment Opportunities:

Upon completion of this course, individuals should be able to apply for positions in hospital, corporate, and physician practice laboratories.

Instructional Format: Face-to-face class meetings.

Learning Outcomes

Phlebotomy Technician students will:

  • Be proficient using blood collection equipment.
  • Maintain proper phlebotomy (venipuncture) technique.
  • Be proficient with specimen handling and processing in a healthcare setting.
  • Be familiar with issues regarding today’s healthcare setting.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and other healthcare professionals.

Program Costs

Cost: $183 plus associated books, tools, and supplies

Virginia residents pay the same tuition rate as in-state students.
