COVID-19: Fall 2022 Semester Guidelines

Program Overview

This four-month Patient Access Associate Certificate introduces the skills and abilities needed in today’s office environment. Topics include effectively interacting with co-workers and the public, processing documentation, and performing functions typical of today’s offices/hospitals. Upon completion, students should be able to display skills and decision-making abilities essential for functioning in the total office context.

Employment Opportunities:

Upon completion of this course, individuals should be able to apply for positions in both hospital and physician practice settings.

Instructional Format: Hybrid. Some face-to-face class meetings as well as online instruction.

Learning Outcomes

Patient Access Associate students will:

  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, and the public.
  • Maintain organized and managed healthcare.
  • Provide accurate, accessible, and secure electronic and/or paper records.
  • Understand various classification methods for coding patient information needed for insurance reimbursement and patient medical history.

Program Costs

Cost: $183 plus associated books, tools, and supplies

Virginia residents pay the same tuition rate as in-state students.
