Program Overview

This certification covers the NFPA 1001 Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications, Current Edition.

Employment Opportunities:

Upon completion of this certification, individuals will be able to function and apply for positions as a credentialed firefighter in the State of North Carolina.

Certification Testing: Firefighter

Learning Outcomes

Firefighter students will:

  • Learn to operate safely and effectively on an emergency incident.
  • Participate as a member of a team to mitigate and control various emergency incidents.
  • Perform the duties of a Firefighter in the State of North Carolina.

Program Costs

Cost: $70 to $125 per individual class depending upon the length of the class. Members of approved North Carolina fire departments and rescue squads are eligible to receive tuition waivers for these classes.

Virginia residents pay the same tuition rate as in-state students.
