Degree, Online, On Campus
The Associate in Arts Teacher Preparation (AATP) degree is designed for students interested in transferring to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor in arts education. For example, the AATP is appropriate for students who would like to become K-12 teachers specializing in Art, Language Arts/English, History, Music, Physical Education, Social Studies, World Languages, etc.
The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (ICAA) enable transfer with junior status for North Carolina community college Associate in Arts program graduates who are admitted to constituent institutions of The University of North Carolina and to Signatory Institutions of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities. The Associate in Arts Teacher Preparation degree program is 60 semester credit hours.
A minimum grade of C is required in all courses counted toward graduation and to ensure course transferability to the University of North Carolina system. Students interested in taking advanced Spanish language courses may also be interested in adding the Spanish Language Certificate to the Associate in Arts degree.
