Civics for Adults - Your Government and How it Works

Basic review of all three levels of government: local (city and county), state (North Carolina), and federal. The course will use current events to show how knowledge of government is directly related to today. Instructional methods will include: lecture, guest speakers, group discussions, suggested readings, video clips, etc. The class will begin with an explanation of the local county and city governments of North Carolina. The class will be flexible and use current events to take us into different areas weekly. The instructor, David Diamont, has over 40 years experience teaching History and Civics in the Surry County and Mount Airy City schools. He served in the North Carolina house of representatives for 20 years.
