This NC Fire and Rescue Commission certification course covers the knowledge, skills, and requirements referenced in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1021 for Fire Officer training. Topics include officer roles and responsibilities, budgets, fire cause determination, inspections, education, leadership, management, public relations, and other requirements included in the NFPA standard. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of relevant NFPA standards as required for state Fire Officer certification.
Surry Community College Fire and Rescue Division conducts all certification tests in accordance with the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission Testing Policy. A simplified testing policy is available which summarizes the main points of this policy. To be eligible to test, students must register BEFORE 10% of the class time has passed and MUST attend 80% of the entire class.
