Complete Your Admission

To finalize your admissions at Surry Community College you must submit an official copy of your high school transcript. Placement tests may also be required prior to finalizing your admissions.

Completing these items will help to prepare you for success on your educational journey.

Submit Official Transcripts

Submit official high school, high school equivalency, or adult high school transcript and college transcripts to:

Military Transcripts
All Active Duty, Reserve, and Veterans of the Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy can request a Military Transcript through the Joint Service Transcript system.

**Non-degree seeking students are not required to submit official transcripts, unless pre-requisites are needed for course registration.


Complete Placement Testing

You might be eligible for exemption from taking all or part of the placement test. Exemptions are approved, by the Admissions Office, with appropriate transcripts or score reports. Exemption qualifications are as follows:

  • Documented completion of appropriate prerequisite developmental courses with a grade of "C" or better,
  • Before March 2016: met minimum SAT scores (500 or above in Math, Writing and/or Critical Reading) and their scores are not more than 5 years old,
  • After March 2016: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing score (480) After March 2016: Math score (530),
  • Met minimum ACT scores (22 or above in Math) met minimum ACT scores for English or Reading (18 English OR 22 Reading) and their scores are not more than 5 years old,
  • Documented successful completion of appropriate college-level English and mathematics courses at another college within the past five years.

Course Prerequisite Waivers
Students that have transcripts, test scores, portfolios, etc. to merit course prerequisite waiver consideration can present their case to the division chair who oversees the course in question. Only the division chair responsible for the pre-requisite course can provide students a waiver.

If you are a new student and you do not qualify for any exemptions outlined above, you will be required to take the NC DAP placement test.
