Surry Community College is offering a Nutrition and Health for Everyday Life class in March as part of a self help series.
The Nutrition and Health for Everyday Life class will provide students with the knowledge and confidence necessary to make educated choices regarding nutrition and physical activity. Those enrolled in the course will learn about the powerful health benefits of foods, spices, low impact exercise and more in order to make decisions beneficial to overall health and wellness.
Ewell Vernon, the class instructor, has a wealth of both educational and real world experience in the health and wellness realm including teaching Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness curriculum classes at Surry and serving as the athletic trainer for the Surry Knights athletic teams. Vernon holds a B.S. in Athletic Training from Gardner-Webb University and a Masters of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University. Additionally, he has studied aromatherapy and holds Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) and Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) credentials. Furthermore, Vernon stays up to date on all the latest ways to improve one’s wellness by running his own consulting company, Impact Wellness Solutions.
When discussing the class, Vernon said, “There is not a magic pill or simple formula to health and wellness; it is a multifaceted approach. The classes in the self-help series are for educational purposes. I want to use all my education, training, and experience to help people make smart and pro-active decisions about their health.”
The Nutrition and Health for Everyday Life class will meet Monday, March 13 and Monday, March 20 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in Room J-103 of Surry Community College, 630 S. Main St., Dobson.
