Surry Community Hosting Health Fair on March 15
Surry Community College will host a Health and Wellness Fair open to students, staff and the community on Wednesday, March 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Grand Hall of the Shelton-Badgett North Carolina Center for Viticulture and Enology, 630 S. Main St., Dobson.
The free event will include a variety of vendors offering community support services related to physical, mental and emotional well-being. Representatives from Surry County Health and Nutrition, Northern Wellness and Fitness Center formerly ProHealth, Delp Chiropractic, Traxx and Reeves Community Center will be present along with several other area businesses and vendors dedicated to promoting overall wellness. Many Surry students will also be involved as SCC’s Physical Education Department, Physical Therapist Assistant program and Sports Medicine club will be represented as well.
Those in attendance will be able to take part in many fun, engaging health and fitness tests, such as having their blood pressure checked and their Body Mass Index (BMI) measured, and will be able to receive tips and insight into improving their health.
Surry’s Student and Community Engagement Coordinator Kasey Martin described the goal of the event as an opportunity for “our students, faculty, staff and the entire community to come to one location to obtain information on local opportunities that can be of benefit to not only their personal health, but to the health of their family members, as well.”
