The National Junior College Athletic Association has recognized the Surry softball team as a National Academic Team of the Year.  The Lady Knights finished the 2010 season with a 3.01 grade point average.

“I am extremely proud of our team for this great accomplishment,” stated Surry head softball coach Amber Reid.  “Our team worked extremely hard on the field and in the classroom.”

The Knights finished fourth among eleven teams in the Region X Tournament this season, and finished with an overall record of 24-20.

“For our softball team to have the highest grade point average of any of the 134 athletic teams in Region X is incredible,” stated Surry athletic director Mark Tucker.  “These young ladies and Coach Reid are to be commended on this outstanding accomplishment.”
